Furtwangen University Howto: Accessing the mailbox via a browser

What you need to know

After receiving their HFU account, students, professors and other employees have access to the university's email portal at the following address:

If you have not yet received your HFU account, you can find out where and how to get it on the Internal link opens in the same window:HFU-Account service information page.

The following instructions describe how to log into the email inbox via the browser.

Open a browser of your choice (e.g. Edge, Google Chrome, Safari, etc.) and go to the following address: External link opens in a new window:mailbox.hs-furtwangen.de
- If you are not yet logged in with your HFU account, you will be taken to the two-factor authentication.
Enter the required authentication code using your Authenticator app.
- You will be redirected to the Outlook login screen (see Fig. 2.1).

Now enter your HFU login name (e-mail address) and your current password and confirm your entries by clicking on “Login”.
- Login for students: xyz46005@stud.hs-furtwangen.de (see Fig. 3.1).
  Login employees and professors: xyz1234@hs-furtwangen.de
- Once you have successfully logged in, you will be taken to your inbox where you can write* and receive emails (see Fig. 3.2).
- *Please note that as a student you cannot send emails to HFU employees or professors via your mailbox until 18 April.

Note: If you receive a warning message “Your password expires today”, you can just ignore it – you do not need to change your password. If you want to change your password, please follow the Helpcard Internal link opens in the same window:Changing password for the HFU account (HFUACCOUNT 30-040).
- If you have changed the password anyway, please give the system at least 20 minutes to synchronize the systems.
