What you need to know

The information on this Helpcard is intended for students only and does NOT apply to employees and professors at Furtwangen University.

All students can use Microsoft Office products Word, Excel and PowerPoint free of charge via their HFU account. However, with this account, students do not have access to Teams and OneDrive – these are not offered at HFU.

The following instructions describe the installation of the Office products with registration via the HFU account login.

What you have to do

  1. Open the following address: www.microsoft365.com.

    • The Microsoft Office website is displayed.

  2. Click on the “Log in” button.

    • You will be redirected to the HFU Account login or directly to the Microsoft 365 homepage.

  3. Optional: If you are not already logged in with your HFU account, you must first log in with your HFU account data at this point.

    • Example: abc12345@stud.hs-furtwangen.de + personal password

    • You will land on the Microsoft 365 homepage.

      After logging in, you will land on the Microsoft 365 welcome page.

  4. Click on the “Install and more” button on the right-hand side to open the drop-down menu and select the “Install Microsoft 365 apps” option.

    • You will be taken to the “Apps and devices” overview page, where all available programs are listed.

  5. Click on the “Install Office” button under “Office apps and devices” to carry out the installation.

    • The Office installation is started.

      The installation of Office can be started under “Office apps and devices”.
