Using Zoom via the browser

What you need to know

You can use Zoom via your browser. If you want to use Zoom more often, we recommend that you install the Zoom desktop client. You can find information on installation in this how-to helpcard:

You will also need a functioning image and sound recording source (if not installed): e.g. microphone & loudspeaker or headset, as well as a webcam (we recommend using a headset).

What you have to do

  1. Open a browser of your choice and enter the following link:
    External link opens in a new window:https://hs-furtwangen-de.zoom.us/.

    • The Zoom website will open.

  2. Click on the “Log in” button.

    • You will be redirected to the HFU Account login or you may receive the dialog box from step 4.

  3. Optional: If you are not already logged in with your HFU account, you must first log in with your HFU account data at this point.

    • Example for employees: abc1234@hs-furtwangen.de + personal password and two-factor authentication
      Example for students: abc12345@stud.hs-furtwangen.de + personal password and two-factor authentication

  4. Select the appropriate consent in the following dialog and confirm with the “Transfer information” button (see Figure 4.1).

  5. You will now receive a request to confirm your email address. Click on the blue button “Confirm your e-mail address” (see Figure 5.1).
    Information for HFU employees: the correct email address is: firstname.lastname@hs-furtwangen.de

    • You will receive an email with the subject “Activate your Zoom account” . Click on the “Active Account” button (see Figure 5.2).

    • Your account will be verified.

  6. You will now be taken to your profile settings (see Figure 6.1).

  7. You can plan and organise your meetings yourself via the “Meetings” menu item (see Figure 7.1) and the “Plan meeting” button on the right (see Figure 7.2).

  8. The settings for your meeting are displayed (see Figure 8.1).
