Finding a course or group (via search mask and filter function)

FELIX 00-033

What you need to know

Besides a title search, FELIX also offers the option of searching via a filter function for the search of groups, courses or other learning resources.
You can adjust the filter functions to your needs or close them with the arrow to hide them.

What you have to do

  1. Open the "Groups" or "Courses" or "Authoring" tab, according to whether you are looking for a group or a course.

    • Only FELIX authors (usually lecturers, professors or other HFU employees) have access to the authoring area.

  2. Click on the "Search" tab when searching for groups or for courses, or the "Search mask" tab in the authoring area when searching for your own courses or entries.

    • The search area with the title search and the filter function opens.

  3. Search for your group/course or desired learning resource by specifying the title.

    • For students: If you do not find the corresponding course under the title of the course, you can also search for the name of the lecturer.

    • The search may return one or more entries.

    • If necessary, configure the table resulting from the search by clicking on the gear icon on the right. For example, deactivate the column "Semester name", "Start", "End", "Progress" and save.

  4. If you have not found the course or group you are looking for, use the filter function if necessary.

    • First delete the previous title search.

    • Configure the filter area under "More" according to your requirements (activate or deactivate filters) and save.

    • If you want to save this configuration for the next log-ins, click the three-dot menu on the right and click "Save filter". Give the filter a relevant name.

    • Filter function in the course search (tab Courses)
A possible useful setting of the filter function could be:
Implementation period (search for current courses)
Status (search for active or finished courses)
Author/Owner (Search for the name of the lecturer)

    • Filter function in the course search (tab authoring area)
A possible useful setting of the filter function could be:
Author/Owner (searches for the name of the creator, e.g. the lecturer).
Technical type (searches for learning path or traditional courses)
      Status (for authors)

    • Searching for a group:
If you are looking for a group that you are not yet a member of, we recommend searching via the "Published Groups" tab.
