Accessing e-media and databases via the HFU intranet

What you need to know

As a member of the university, your HFU account gives you access to the digital services of the HFU libraries, which you can access via the intranet.  Once you have logged in with your HFU account, you have direct access to licensed e-books, databases and e-books.

For a few licensors/providers, logging in to the platform is only possible by entering a password.

What you have to do

  1. Open the link to the service overview of the HFU intranet: External link opens in a new window:intra.hs-furtwangen.de

  2. Click on the green 'Start now' button.

    • Follow the instructions for using the HFU account (Helpcard HFUACCOUNT 20-010) when logging in for the first time

    • Please also note the instructions and information on two-factor authentication via smartphone (Helpcard 20-010) or two-factor authentication with Windows (Helpcard 20-020).

  3. You have access to the library's digital services.

    • #Library identifies the digital services of the HFU libraries.

  4. You can now select the following application of the HFU libraries.

  5. BOSS (Fig.4.1): The research portal gives you access to licensed e-books and e-resources (e.g. videos from LinkedIn Learning etc.).

    • You can find out how to research and use e-media under the following link (Helpcard BIB 20-020).

  6. DBIS (Fig. 4.2): The database information system provides you with an overview of scientific databases that are freely accessible or available to you through a license from the HFU libraries (Helpcard 50-010).

    • Use the TOP databases selected by the HFU Libraries in the subject area for your research.

    • Under Standards you will find the Nautos database for research (Helpcard BIB 20-070).

  7. EZB (Fig.4.3): The electronic journal database allows you to search for academic journals licensed by the HFU libraries (Helpcard BIB 20-050).
