Creating a template from a course (formerly known as a Course Template)

FELIX 10-015

What you need to know

Courses can be saved, exported, and reused as templates (formerly known as Course Templates). You can use these templates to create personalised templates that you can easily and flexibly reuse.

A template course is not a “normal” course and can only be used as a template. You can create a template from your existing courses in just a few steps and save it as a template.

Only course owners can create a template from that course. Therefore, make sure you have this course role.

What you have to do

  1. Log in to FELIX using your HFU account.

  2. In the “My entries” section of the authoring area, open the course from which you want to create a template.

  3. Under Administration, select the “Save as template” option.

    • The “Save as Template” dialogue box opens.

  4. Enter the title of the template, then click “Save”.

    • Do not use umlauts, and avoid all special characters except (), /\, -, and _. For clarity, use the following format:

Title_ (programme name if applicable) _ (your last name), Example: Marketing_WNB_(Huebner).

    • Your template is ready.

  5. To create a course from your template, please follow the “Internal link opens in the same window:Creating a course with a course template” helpcard (FELIX 10-010).
