Renaming course elements, entering description, learning objectives and instructions

FELIX 30-001

What you need to know

In the course editor you can rename course elements and add element descriptions.
Below the description in the section "Insert additional information..." you can enter learning objectives as well as instructions which will then be clearly displayed for the course participants in the course. In addition, you can leave "Notes for coaches" that will also only be displayed to course coaches in the respective course element.

What you have to do

  1. In your course, under "Administration", click "Course editor".

    • The course editor opens.

  2. Select the course element you want to rename.

    • The course element opens. The "Title and Description" tab is displayed.

  3. Rename the course element by entering the desired title under "Title".
If necessary, change the title in the "Title in course menu" field by entering a helpful abbreviation.

    • The "Title in course menu" is displayed on the left side of the structure. Since the structure is fixed to a certain width, a maximum of 25 characters is recommended.

    • The "Title" will be displayed in the centre of the screen above the course element content when the element is opened.
If this is not the case, check in the course editor under the corresponding course element in the "Layout" tab whether the check mark is set for "Title".

  4. You can enter a description. Clicking on "Formatted" takes you to the text editor, which allows you to format the text and add links.

  5. Save your changes.

    • You can now enter extended information in the next step (learning objectives, instructions, notes for the coach) or publish the saved changes in the step after next by exiting the course editor.

  6. Select "Insert additional Information..." to enter "Learning Objectives", "Instructions", or "Notes for coaches" and save your changes.

    • The above-mentioned text boxes will open.

    • The "Notes for coaches" are only displayed to other course owners or coaches.
You are often the only course owner. This function is only useful if your course is administered by other people or if you pass on the course.

  7. Click the red cross (top right) to close the course editor. Select the "Publish automatically" option to publish the change.

    • The course view will open.
