Inserting SCORM learning content

FELIX 30-235

What you need to know

With SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) web-based learning content can be used in different environments.

As an example, this Helpcard explains how you can integrate an H5P content (e.g. created in Lumi, see Helpcard 30-230) into FELIX using the "SCORM learning content" module.

Note: Please note that we recommend the use of FELIX tests for "real" tests.

What you have to do

  1. You must export your exercise in H5P as a SCORM package to perform the following steps.

  2. In your course, click on "Course editor" under "Administration" (top left).

    • The course editor opens.

  3. In the course structure (left), activate the course element under which the new element is to be inserted.
Under "Insert course elements" (above), select the element "SCORM learning content". You will find this in the category "Knowledge transfer".
Alternatively, you can use the "Quick-Add" search function.

    • You can also move the block afterwards by drag & drop.

  4. To rename the course element, enter the title that is displayed in the course in the "Title" field. If necessary, abbreviate the title in the "Title in course menu" field. "Save" your entries.

    • The "Title in course menu" is displayed on the left side of the structure. Since the structure is fixed to a certain width, a maximum of 25 characters is recommended.

    • Under "Insert additional information" you can enter e.g. learning objectives and instructions for learners.

    • Under "Visibility" and "Access" you can, if required, regulate the visibility and access to the block, e.g. depending on the group or date (see Helpcard 30-000).

  5. Click on the "Learning content" tab and there on "Select or import SCORM learning content".

  6. Click on "Import" (top right) to import the corresponding SCORM content into FELIX.
If you have already imported your SCORM content, it will be displayed in the list and you can select it by clicking on the title.

    • You can select your SCORM content, assign a title and import it.

  7. We recommend leaving the default settings and enabling the interactive learning content as a self-test with multiple solution attempts.

    • If the "Start content automatically" option is selected, the SCORM content is started automatically for all participants (including owners).

    • Under "Transfer results from SCORM", you can transfer points (option: "Transfer score") or a "Pass/Fail" (option: "Transfer passed" based on a predefined pass threshold).
In principle, it is also possible to activate assessment dependencies. Please note, however, that various influencing factors can lead to the results being distorted (e.g. if participants forget to click on "Check").

  8. Click the red cross (top right) to close the course editor. Select the "Publish automatically" option to publish the change.

    • The new element is not displayed in the course view until it has been published.

  9. As a course owner, you can ...
... view the course content over "SCORM Content"
... generate an overview table under "Participants"
... send an automated reminder of the SCORM content under "Reminders".
