Using interlibrary loan

What you need to know

Items not held in the HFU libraries’ collections can be requested from other libraries across Germany and internationally via the interlibrary loan service. The fee is €1.50. Once delivered, you can collect the items from your campus library.

E-books are excluded from the interlibrary loan service.

What you have to do

  1. Search for your desired topic, see Internal link opens in the same window:Searching for and finding e-books and books (Helpcard BIB 20-020).

    • Nothing found for your topic? BOSS will show the following results:

  2. Click on the "Interlibrary loan" tab.

  3. The hit list is displayed.

  4. Click on the media you want.

    • The full display of the medium is opened.

  5. Please note: e-books cannot be ordered via interlibrary loan!

  6. Click on "BOSS Login".

  7. Log in with your HFU account, see Internal link opens in the same window:Logging in with your HFU account (Helpcard HFUACCOUNT 10-030).

  8. To order the medium, click on the green "Order via interlibrary loan" button.

  9. The order mask opens.

  10. In the "Terms of delivery" area, select the campus library where you would like to pick up the item. By “Order copies?”, click on "Borrow".

  11. Check the "I confirm that I will not use the ordered titles/copies for commercial purposes" box.

  12. Click on the green "Order - charges apply" button to order the medium via interlibrary loan.

    • Please click this button only once to avoid multiple orders.

    • The booking has been made. The order is now completed.

  13. Interlibrary loans cannot always be renewed independently via your library account.

    In this case, please contact the team at your campus library.
