Inserting appointment scheduling element

FELIX 30-150

What you need to know

The "Appointment scheduling" course element enables the digital organisation/allocation of appointments, e.g. for the organisation of office hours, and for finding suitable appointments. This applies to the organisation of both face-to-face appointments and online appointments.
You need the "Appointment scheduling" course element only once and can then create various so-called occasions (appointments).
It is possible to configure appointments so that ...
... they can be booked by single or multiple students.
... a maximum number of students is allowed per appointment.
... students can select either only one or several appointments.

What you have to do

  1. Add the “Scheduling” module in the course editor under Administration (top left).

    • For the module-specific configuration, continue reading this helpcard at step 2.

  2. Click on the "Configuration" tab and activate the "Owner" at "Organizers".

    • The future settings will not apply to all course owners if you do not take this step.

    • Select the option “Send email notification to organizers when an appointment has been selected” if you would like to be notified of booked appointments by email.

    • Optionally, you can allow participants to leave comments when booking appointments (e.g., regarding the meeting topic).

    • Under “Configuration” the default setting is that supervisors are also allowed to edit “events” and appointments that you have created. We recommend leaving this default setting unchanged.

  3. Click the red cross (top right) to close the course editor. Select the "Publish automatically" option to publish the change.

    • The new element is not displayed in the course view until it has been published.

  4. If you now want to make appointments available to your students for booking (e.g. for office hours, viewing of exam papers, etc.), then follow Helpcard Internal link opens in the same window:Scheduling an appointment - organising appoints digitally (FELIX 30-151).
If you want to find suitable appointments together with your students (as with Doodle), then follow Helpcard Internal link opens in the same window:Scheduling - finding a common appointment (doodling)  (FELIX 30-152).
