Creating a test for an eKlausur@HFU

ONLINEPRUEFUNG 50-020

What you need to know

To conduct an eKlausur@HFU, you need a learning resource of the type "Test" and questions that you can integrate into your test from the question pool. In the next step, you must integrate the completed test into a special course (EKLK_Masterkurs) (see Helpcard 50-030). The course including the test is transferred to the examination system by Learning Services.

What you have to do

  1. Open the "Question pool".

    • Check again the questions you want to include in your test.
Do not use umlauts, spaces or special characters in the file names of images that you include in questions.
Also, do not include images via an Internet link. These cannot be displayed in the test mode!

    • Should the answers within the questions of FELIX be randomly mixed? For single-choice and multiple-choice this is already preset. For other question types (e.g. matrix question) you can configure this in the "Selection" tab of the question.

  2. In the "Question Pool", select the desired questions with a check mark in front of the question and click "Create Test" at the bottom of the page.

    • The "Create Test" window opens and provides an overview of the selected questions.

  3. Confirm the selection with "Create test".

  4. Enter a title for your test according to the following rule including the test date:
[instructor] _[comprehensible abbreviation of course name]_ [yyyy]_[mm]_[dd]_EKLT
    Beispiel: Meyer_BWL_2018_07_14_EKLT

    • Only by following this naming rule, can we later check if the right exam is included.

    • Do not use umlauts and avoid all other special characters except (),/ \,-_.

    • Avoid titles that are too long, as this can cause problems when exporting the results.

  5. Click on "Create".

    • The new test with the selected questions opens in the test editor.
The selected questions have been inserted below a section. Sections are used to structure the test.

    • The question titles can be hidden in the display of the test so that students are only shown "Question 1, Question 2". This is already preset in the exam course template (eKlausur@home-Master).

  6. Click on the "Section" (left) and give the section a title. "Save" the change.

    • Assign a short section title (max. 40 characters) to avoid moving the layout.

    • How to randomise the questions within a section as well as several sections in one FELIX test is shown in Helpcard 20-070.

  7. You want to add more sections?
You want to delete questions, add new questions from the pool or decouple a question in the test from the question pool?
You can find this info on the Helpcard 40-130 in steps 4, 7 and 8.

  8. Define a pass threshold: select the top test element in the structure on the left and, if desired, enter the number of points that the system uses to classify a test as "passed" in the middle screen area under "Required score...".

    • The points are calculated from the sum of all defined points. The pass threshold is invisible for students and is information for you during the correction phase.

    • All other test settings (e.g. time limit) should be set or changed in your exam course (eKlausur@home master course), into which the test must be integrated after completion (see Helpcard 50-030).

  9. Include the finished test in the eKlausur master (see Helpcard 50-030).
