BWSYNC

bwSync and Share

The bwSync and Share service provided by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) enables members of the HFU community to store data online, manage it using various access options, and make it available to others.

Users (HFU staff and students) use bwSync&Share to store a copy of their data in a central location on the internet. On the one hand, this allows them to keep their data up to date across all their internet-enabled devices (‘Sync’). Secondly, they can also exchange files with one another or with external parties (‘Share’).

Authentication and authorisation are carried out via the Shibboleth single sign-on procedure. Data is transmitted in encrypted form, and access can be gained using Sync&Share clients for the Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Apple iOS and Android operating systems, as well as cross-platform via a web browser.

The terms of use and further information can be found here:

Unlike similar services, with bwSync&Share data is stored exclusively in the Large Scale Data Facility (LSDF) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and is therefore subject to German data protection legislation.

Important:
For sensitive data, please use tools that provide end-to-end encryption. Please read the following guidance on this topic: help.bwsyncandshare.kit.edu/english/122.php
