Extending media and media lending periods

What you need to know

You get an overview of your borrowed media via the "Library account" button.
Here you can learn how to extend the loan period of your media.

What you have to do

  1. Go to the HFU Libraries webpage and click on the green Library search button.

  2. Open the External link opens in a new window:BOSS search portal or the library catalogue (OPAC).

  3. Click on the "Library account" button.

    • A pop-up window will open.

  4. Log into your user account - either as a member of the university with your HFU card
    (Step 5) or with your guest card (Step 6).

  5. To log into your account as a member of the university, select "yes".

    • All students, professors, lecturers and members of staff are members of the university.

    • Register with your HFU account.

    • Your HFU account is the account with which you register in webmail or FELIX.

  6. If you have a guest card for the use of the HFU libraries, answer the question about membership of the university with "no".

    • Register with the number of your guest card and your password.

    • The default password is your date of birth in 8-digit format.

    • You can change the password and your email address in your library account.

  7. Now you will get an overview of your library account.

  8. Click on the "Borrow" button

    • You can see the individual loan periods of your borrowed media.

  9. You can renew books yourself up to a maximum of three times.

    • To do so, select the media you wish to renew and click on "Renew selected items" or select "Total Renewal"

    • Renewal of books is not possible until 7 days before the end of the borrowing period, if the medium has not already been requested.

    • Please make sure that the return date has actually been changed.

  10. In many cases, interlibrary loans cannot be renewed through the library account.
    Please contact the team at your campus library.

  11. Please remember to close your library account by clicking "End Session".
