What you need to know

This course gives you an insight into the services of the library on the Schwenningen Campus. We will accompany you throughout your studies and give you an overview of the various search options.

Broad research - into textbooks, newspaper articles and databases - is a basic requirement of academic work.

You will also be given an introduction to using Citavi, which enables you to structure and reuse your literature sources.

Info about the library
You can find information about the premises and the use of the library in this External link opens in a new window:video.
- On External link opens in a new window:our library webpages you will find information about our contact details, the current opening hours, our bank details and you can download various documents, for example the official regulations for library use and library fees (in German).
Study rooms and creative spaces
On the ground floor you will find group workstations, two scanners and the self-checkout, as well as the specialist journals and the new acquisitions shelf.
On the upper floor you will find individual workstations, the loan stock, the reference stock, films and DIN-VDE standards.
Getting started on your research
How to start searching for scientific literature and what to keep in mind is what this Helpcard will teach you.
- The academic language is English. Linguee is a good tool for the translation of specialist terms.
Search using the library BOSS and OPAC catalogues
This video shows you how to use BOSS to search for media.
