Problems with webcam sharing (Windows)
What you need to know
The integrated or external webcam is not displayed?
This card shows some possible solutions.
Please note: The following instructions are primarily intended for users of the Windows operating system.
What you have to do
It is best to check whether the correct camera is selected before entering the room. You can do this in the room in the settings (gear icon).
For an external webcam, check the connection.
If you find any damage to the cable or jack, replace your capture device.
Check if the camera used by the operating system is recognised.
To do this, open the device manager.
You can open the device manager by either
... right-clicking on the Windows icon (see Figure 3.1) or
... entering "Device Manager" in the search (see Figure 3.2)
The device manager will open.
Check whether the camera you have connected is listed under image processing devices or input devices (see Figure 3.3).
Check whether the drivers of the graphics card are up-to-date.
Check this in the device manager as well (see step 3).
Click "Graphics Cards" to display the cards you are using. Then right-click on one of the cards and select the "Properties" option in the context menu that appears.
The properties of the graphics card will open.
Switch to the "Driver" tab.
Check the driver of the corresponding camera by clicking the "Update Driver" button and selecting the "Automatically check for updated driver software" option in the context menu that appears.
You will get the feedback that you already have the latest driver version or the driver will be updated to the latest version.
Check whether the Windows settings allow camera sharing in alfaview.
Open your settings (see Figure 5.1).
Enter "Camera" and select "Disable camera access for all apps" (see Figure 5.2).
Scroll down to the "Allow desktop apps to access the camera" section.
Here the slider should be set to "On" and alfaview should be listed (see Figure 5.3).
