Communicating during a FELIX test (eKlausur@home)

ONLINEPRUEFUNG 20-015

What you need to know

The "Communication" area allows an exchange between lecturers and participants during the test.
Lecturers can...
(1) ... send a message to all participants
(2) ... allow a chat communication from the participants to the lecturers.
(3) ... chat with the participants and start a 1:1 BigBlueButton session if required.

What you have to do

  1. You must first insert a FELIX test (see Helpcard Internal link opens in a new window:30-160) or set up an eKlausur@home master (see Helpcard Internal link opens in a new window:20-080).

  2. Write a message to all participants

    • Bring up the "Communication" tab in the test element.

    • In the "Message to all participants" area, click "Create new message".

    • Compose your message and select the time of publication and save.

    • Your message will be listed in the "Message to all participants" area.
Messages can be withdrawn via the three-dot menu at the end of the line. Scheduled messages can also be edited in this way.
Via the table you can also see if the participants mark the message as "Read".

  3. Configure chat communication option
By default, you can chat during a test with active participants of the test. If you also want to allow requests from participants to you, you need to configure this as follows.

    • In your course, click on "Course editor" under "Administration" (top left).

    • The course editor will open.

    • Bring up the inserted test element (in the eKlausur@home Master course this can be found below "To the exam", titled "eKlausur@home").

    • Click the "Communication" tab.

    • By default, requests from participants to lecturers are deactivated. You can activate them at this point.

    • Save.

    • Click the red cross (top right) to close the course editor. Select the "Yes, automatically" option to publish the change.

    • After the test start, participants now have the option to send a chat message to the coach(es) via the chat icon (top right).
They will then find the message in the course view in the respective test element under the tab "Communication".

  4. Use chat function in test module (incl. start BigBlueButton session)

    • Start a 1:1 "Coach chat" in the course view in the relevant test element under "Communication" "Add participant".

    • Locate the relevant user.

    • Only users who are active in the test can be found.

    • Compose your message to the relevant participant via "Join" and start a BigBlueButton session in the chat window below the input field if required.
